Develop an Equal Pay Action Plan
You should now have some idea why these gaps occured. You need
to think about action you can take to address these gaps.
For example, if manager discretion in setting starting salaries
has led to anomalies, consider developing a more robust approach
which sets out clear guidance on how starting salaries should be
fixed.
If you had some gaps which you were unable to explain due to a
lack of an audit trail, develop a process whereby you can be clear
about why an employee is receiving the rate they are
paid.
Equal Pay Action Plans are usually long term. Change will not
happen overnight, so set your plan within a reasonable
timeframe.
