Equality Impact Assessment - Screening
You don't have to carry out an equality impact assessment on
everything that you do.
The secret of an effective equality impact assessment process is
knowing where to focus your resources.
You can use a screening process to decide which policies,
practices or decisions need to be subject to a full equality impact
assessment. In general terms, an effective screening process
decides on priorities based on proportionality, relevance and
scale.
The golden rules:
IF you are doing something which could potentially detrimentally
affect service users, or a particular group of service users,
and/or:
IF your actions or proposals are of sufficient scale;
THEN you should probably carry out a full equality impact
assessment.
