Revised Pay and Grading - Job Evaluation

Loch Lomond National Park

Background

The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park centres on Loch Lomond and the hills and glens of the Trossachs. It was the first of the two national parks established by the Scottish Parliament in 2002.

Having implemented job evaluation, we were commissioned to carry an equal pay audit with reference to how the proposed grade boundaries affected men and women.

Approach

We relied upon the EHRC’s Guidance on Gender Neutral Job Evaluation Schemes, which outlines the standards that job evaluation must meet, and states the potential risks of discrimination in the design and implementation of job evaluation.

Process

The job evaluation factors were tested and we reviewed a sample of job descriptions to ensure they were of consistent quality. The proposed pay model was assessed on the impact on men and women, and recommendations were made to ensure that future implementation would avoid bias.
