Background

Xpert HR provide online products to ensure that HR professionals have everything they need in relation to compliance and good practice. This includes an extensive suite of up to date model letters and policies, “How To” Guides and survey analysis.

They also provide workflow tools, with interactive flowcharts to enable users to work through processes step by step with an interactive map format. We were commissioned to develop an equal pay audit workflow.

 

Approach

We based this work on the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s Statutory Code of Practice on Equal Pay. This Code provides a model for carrying out an equal pay audit based on a five step process, including scoping, determining equal work, collecting pay data, establishing causes and developing an equal pay action plan.

Process

We began with setting out the start and end points, and using the Code, we extrapolated tasks to enable compliance. Variables which relied on the use of job evaluation were mapped, and a beta version of the tool was tested, which allowed revisions to improve the equal pay audit workflow.
